Erie Canal Audio Tour Grand Opening

Be a part of history! Join Museum Archivist Chris Hunter for the official opening of the Erie Canal Audio Tour in downtown Schenectady. Use your cell phone to access information at all of the stops along the tour. Learn about the technology used to construct the canal ... discover the impact the canal had on the lives of those who lived near it ... explore business growth and opportunities brought by the canal. Developed with funding from an Erie Canal Heritage Corridor grant. Opening ceremony at Stop #1 (Key Bank, 315 State Street (near the corner of State St. and Erie Blvd).

Hidden Power Demos

Explore energy, electricity generation and efficiency with miSci educators. These interactive demonstrations rely on audience participation and use manipulatives, providing an interactive learning opportunity. This new program was developed by the Franklin Institute and the Penn State Center for Nanoscale Science, a Materials Research Science and Engineering Center supported by a National Science Foundation grant.

You already play with robotics technology in your toys and games but did you know that robotics is also used in medicine, art, music, and even fashion design? Learn how using household objects and crafts supplies can help you create your very own robot.
