Putting DNA to Work Exhibit Opening


Enjoy hands-on activities specifically designed to encourage visitors of all ages to examine DNA sequences, and see how that knowledge can be used to unlock the secrets hidden in our genes. Putting DNA to Work is an interactive traveling exhibit that was developed and organized by the Marian Koshland Science Museum of the National Academy of Sciences.

Home School Days: Advanced Topics in Astronomy (Ages 12-15)


The rising and setting of the Sun at the start of each season is duplicated in the planetarium sky, along with the Sun's elevation at noon throughout the year. The Lunar Cycle and phases are also viewed in the dome at "weekly intervals", and the phenomena of Eclipses is explained and shown. The Museum offers monthly Home School Days. Registration is required. Call 518.382.7890 x 224 today!

Cancer Research Lecture with Douglas Conklin, Ph.D.


Join Douglas Conklin, Ph.D. for a discussion of his research about cancer cell genesis. Dr. Conklin is Assistant Professor in the Department of Biomedical Sciences at the University at Albany and works in the Ge*NY*sis Center for Excellence in Cancer Genomics. His laboratory is interested in the mechanisms that regulate mammalian cell proliferation and their importance to the genesis of cancers.
